Position Type: Teen Volunteer
Hours: One full week (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM)
LC Nature Park is seeking enthusiastic and responsible teens to serve as Volunteer Camp Counselors for Camp Trillium, our summer day camp for children ages 5–12. This volunteer opportunity is designed for teens who enjoy working with younger children, love the outdoors, and want to build leadership skills in a supportive, nature-based setting.
Volunteer Camp Counselors assist camp staff with daily activities, including setting up and organizing materials, leading camp songs and games, supporting hands-on nature activities, helping supervise campers, and assisting with end-of-day cleanup. Volunteers serve as positive role models and help create a safe, welcoming, and energetic camp environment.
Teen volunteers must be friendly, dependable, and eager to learn. A full-week commitment (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM) is required. See Camp Trillium Schedule >
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome campers in the mornings
- Help Camp Counselors set up camp activities
- Keep an eye on campers, making sure they stay safe and follow the rules
- Inform Counselors and Program Manager of any behavioral problems
- Assist with end of day clean-up
Qualifications
- Must be between 13 and 17 years of age
- Be able to commit to at least one full week of camp
- Fully participate in all activities, including training activities.
- Ability to handle stressful situations appropriately, maintaining mental, emotional, and social resilience needed for the job in a fast-paced, interactive environment.
Physical Aspects of the Job
This position will require bending, stooping, walking long distances across rugged terrain and prolonged standing. This position involves daily exposure to sun, heat, dust, and animals, including wild animals and those maintained at the park.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist counselors and park staff in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury).
