Free community event features bison and elk viewing, historical reenactors, local art, hayrides, family activities, and more

ROANOKE, Ind. (October 21, 2026) – LC Nature Park invites the community to celebrate National Bison Day on Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will feature wildlife viewing, historical reenactors, local art, hayrides, and activities for all ages.

Sponsored by Truland Equipment, the event is presented in partnership with The Old Fort, Miami Tribe of Oklahoma artist Katrina Mitten, and Wandering James Photography.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities throughout the day, including the return of the popular LC Trail Game, historical reenactments, local art, and hay wagon rides that will run nearly continuously throughout the event. Families can explore the park’s open trails, observe bison and elk in their expansive enclosure, and enjoy a fall day outdoors. Hot dogs and s’mores will also be available for purchase.

“National Bison Day is a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together to celebrate these incredible animals and the important role they play in our natural and cultural heritage,” said Kelly Borgmann, Executive Director of LC Nature Park. “We’re excited to welcome families back for a day of exploration, learning, and fun while connecting visitors with the wildlife and landscapes that make our region special.”

National Bison Day recognizes the ecological, cultural, and historical significance of the American bison. At LC Nature Park, visitors can observe bison and elk roaming together across an expansive enclosure while learning more about the animals and the landscapes they inhabit. Through partnerships with historical interpreters and local artists, the event also offers opportunities to explore the connections between wildlife, people, and the region’s history.

As an independent nonprofit dedicated to conservation, education, and community, LC Nature Park provides immersive outdoor experiences that inspire curiosity and a deeper connection to the natural world. National Bison Day offers an opportunity for visitors of all ages to experience the park while celebrating one of North America’s most iconic animals.

National Bison Day is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to bring family and friends for a memorable fall day at the park. Additional event details can be found at LCNaturePark.org/bison-day.
